Borer beetles are known to cause an extreme amount of damage in some New Zealand houses. The adult female lays its eggs in cracks, crevices or in old exit holes left from other adults.
Once the larvae hatch they eat the timber creating holes and tunnels. They continue this process for two to three years then, as adults, bore exit holes in the wood and fly off.
Treatment is done by using synthetic pyrethrins applied to the timber surface ensuring it penetrates the timber. Painted or varnished timber can not be treated as the product cannot penetrate the timber. It must first be sanded back.
Our team will call and investigate your problem then give you their recommendations.
